Jaś Dziewanowski is the son of Ada Dziewanowska and the brother of Basia Dziewanowska. Starting at the age of 14, he partnered his mother in many teaching workshops and later became a fine instructor and choreographer in his own right.

Jaś was a major force in the Dziewanowski family's efforts to research and film dances and record music in Poland.

Jaś shared in the writing of the original syllabi and of the book

Jaś is wed to Catherine-Anne Green (1991), who was once an avid Turkish dancer and performer. They have two sons, Steven and Alex. Jaś is the owner of At Home Theater & Audio, a stereo and home theater store in Grass Valley, California.
